Every summer the Baker River Watershed Association collects water quality data at 13 locations along the Baker River, in central NH. We are looking for volunteers to assist with this. The volunteer meets with the Watershed Association for training on the methods and instrument use, and then, once a month (June-Sept), collects data and samples. Each volunteer is generally paired with another volunteer for safety. These volunteer pairs typically sample 3-4 sites, which takes about 2-3 hours overall.
The work requires a car, to reach the sample locations and to carry the monitring instruments. Voluteers should also have confidence in their balance - the approach to many of the sample sites is down the riprap slopes of bridge abutments. If interested, please contact Lisa Doner, Chair of the Watershed Association and supervisor of the sampling teams by email: chair@bakerriverwatershed.org or by phone: 603-536-3358.
