Hike Leaders needed!

Participants train over a 14 week period in preparation for their TRAILBLAZE Challenge on October 28, 2017 on Lookout Mountain. In just one day, Trailblaze Challengers will trek 26 miles through Cloudland Canyon and Lula Lake Land Trust. The route will begin at the base of Cloudland Canyon on the western edge of Lookout Mountain and conclude atop Lookout Mountain at Lula Lake Land Trust. We are looking for a person(s) that is an experienced hiker/endurance athlete; understands equipment, knowledge of local hiking trails, importance of hydration and preparation for long hikes, and able to motivate and effectively lead other experienced to novice hikers. The main responsibilities are:

• Lead group hikes every other weekend from June 24 to September 25 for a total of eight (8) team hikes. Group hikes will start at 2-3 miles and work up to a final 18 -20 mile hike.

• Help in the planning of group and meet-up hike locations and mileage.

• Attend hike weekend to support the hikers on the trail and at aid stations (Oct 27 - Oct 29). MAW will take care of all hike weekend expenses for the coach.

• Attend and speak, for a brief 3 - 5 minutes, at as many information meetings as possible (May). The coach’s presence is a vital part of the recruitment process.

• Create a weekly "Coach’s Corner" message for us to include in weekly participant updates to keep the group motivated, educated and looking forward to the next training hike.
