ORGANIZATION: Pawsitive Independence Autism Service Dogs of Saskatchewan Inc

Pawsitive Independence Autism Service Dogs of Saskatchewan Inc. is recruiting individuals to serve as volunteers on its board of directors!

Pawsitive Independence Autism Service Dogs of Saskatchewan Inc (PIASD) is a non-profit organization founded in 2012 by a team of diversely trained individuals with a passion for helping others. We are a dedicated group committed to providing fully equipped and trained companion, therapy and service dogs to Saskatchewan families with children living with autism between the ages of 2-18. We meet the needs of families by offering a variety of support services during the integration stages of their new animal with customized training that begins even before dog placement.

PIASD is seeking people of various skills to serve on its 5-member board of directors. The primary function of the board is to provide governance and strategic direction to the organization.

The board roles with upcoming vacancies include:

1. President

2. Vice President

3. Secretary

4. Treasurer

5. Member at Large

PIASD is a small but growing organization that consists of a number of volunteers and individuals in varying roles including:
· Puppy/Adult Dog Raisers
· Training Staff and Volunteers
· Family Coordinators
· Volunteer Coordinators & Volunteers
· Fundraising & Event Committee
· Media & Marketing Committee

Board terms are from 1-2 years depending on the position and are ready for immediate placement. The Board meets minimum of 4 times per year in Saskatoon or Martensville area. In addition, board members are expected to serve on at least one board committee, with meetings as required throughout the year. PIASD is a non-profit organization; and, therefore, board participation is strictly voluntary.

Qualifications:
· Potential board members do not need to be existing members of PIASD, but they must be dedicated to PIASD’s mission of providing high standards and excellence in raising, training and certifying service dogs and support in a nurturing positive, motivated environments for all families in our program and volunteers.
· Board members who have experience in policy governance and setting strategic direction would be an asset to PIASD.
· All board members are subject to a criminal record check & vulnerable sector screenings.
