Ten Thousand Villages of Huron Valley is a non-profit fair trade retail handicrafts store located in vibrant downtown Ann Arbor. The success of our store depends on the commitment of its wonderful volunteers. Our schedule is designed to meet the needs of our volunteers and we try to be flexible and ammenable to your calendar requirements. All volunteers attend a 2 hour training orientation. We then schedule you for hands-on training times while beginning to work in the store. These first in-store sessions enable you to learn more about our organization, our merchandise and the artisans who create our products. You will begin working on the floor greeting customers, learning the artisan's stories and helping with inventory. Additional training to staff the cash registers may be offered when you are better acquainted with our store. The great success of Ten Thousand Villages in Ann Arbor is due to the wonderful group of volunteers who have "stepped up to the plate" and devoted their time, effort and energy to the principles of fair trade and to ensuring the dignity and living wages of artisans in developing countries. Volunteer applications are available in our store.
