About

Hello,

Each week, our podcast, Global Girl Squad-Main (GGS-Main) will focus on discussing events/issues affecting girls and women around the world to raise awareness and promote equality. Topics will range anywhere from the serious to hilarious for episode aired the first 3 weeks of the month. For the last/4th week episode of every month, women will tell their stories for our "In Her Shoes" segment.

Here are some examples of "profound" topics to serve as inspiration:

1) Small, as in, specific to your person (e.g. coming out to loved ones, death of family member, getting divorced, cancer diagnosis);

2) Large, as it is part of a memorable moment in world history (e.g. survivor of war, survivor of natural disaster);

3) Unconventional/extraordinary, as it isn't something the population experiences (e.g. joined a cult, being a psychic, surviving being lost in the wilderness).

If you are unsure of what we are looking for as far as the story being told in "first person" for this feature, please visit the following link for the perfect example of how to do so: http://misfitrad.io/happening. Participants must be over the age of 18, speak English as one of their languages, have access to computer with a microphone and/headset, and a strong, reliable internet connection. Because of the frequency of this segment, access to the internet doesn't have to be available all the times but all requirements must be met on the day of recording.

We are working on several projects right now so we ask that you please put "In her Shoes Submission" in the subject line of your email. In order to be considered for this project, you MUST SEND 1-2 SENTENCES OUTLINING THE STORY OF THE MOST PROFOUND EVENT/CAUSE/OCCURENCE OF YOUR LIFE (not your ENTIRE LIFE STORY). Upon receipt, we will provide you with details on how to move forward in the selection process. Send all interest, inquiries, your country/region of origin, and a paragraph summary of the story you would like to tell to pbroe@bu.edu .
