We need basic ESL tutors! No experience required.
Coastside Hope’s ESL Program helps low-level, mixed-literacy ESL students prepare for standard beginner level courses, or just equip them with survival language. In addition to class on Monday evenings, this tutoring night has been instrumental in building our students' capacity and confidence with the English language.
About our learner population
Our learners are all Spanish-speaking immigrants who reside in Half Moon Bay. Most are between 30 and 50 years of age and have been in the US for ten years or more.
The students are friendly, happy to be learning, and very cooperative. This is an abundantly positive and rewarding experience for all those involved.
When: Wednesdays from 6:15 to 8:00. We are flexible about how often you tutor, but prefer to have tutors come in at least one week per month.
Where: Moonridge Housing Complex, Half Moon Bay.
New tutors receive training and supervision, and may shadow initially if they prefer.

Mission Statement
Since 1976, Coastside Hope has been the organization where neighbors come together to help each other and take care of our community. Our goal today is to help our neighbors meet their most basic needs while helping every one of us reach our full potential. We accomplish this by providing three things: Necessities, Opportunities, Community.
Description
Coastside Hope is a community based organization providing emergency assistance to local families and seniors in crisis.
We are a safety net agency that lends critical support to the homeless, low-income, elderly and disabled residents of the Coastside.
Our programs include emergency/supplemental food, rental and utility assistance, crisis intervention and referral, and case management.
A Special Delivery program provides families and seniors with much needed new clothing, shoes and household items.
Our Christmas Bureau Adopt a Family, run by volunteers serves over 390 low income families.
We also provide income tax preparation, citizenship classes, immigration status counseling and form assistance.
