Bilingual Legal Investigation and Administration Volunteer
The American Civil Liberties Union of Maryland seeks a Bilingual Investigation and Administrative Volunteer who will assist communications and outreach to Spanish-speaking clients and communities to advance the mission of the ACLU.
When the government has the power to deny legal rights and due process to one vulnerable group, everyone's rights are at risk. The ACLU of Maryland is dedicated to expanding and enforcing the civil liberties and civil rights of immigrants and to combating public and private discrimination against these groups.
Other issues we work on include:
Education Reform * Fair Housing * Racial Justice * Police Practices * Youth Rights * Open Government * Immigrants Rights * Privacy and Technology * Free Speech * LGBT Rights*
The ACLU of Maryland is looking for a part-time Spanish speaking intern or volunteer to work with the Legal Program in our Baltimore office.
The Bilingual Legal Investigation and Administration Volunteer will assist staff with all aspects of the legal program, including:
* Investigating and researching civil rights violations and civil liberties issues; * Administrative support related to current lawsuits and legal matters, including file management; * Writing summaries of cases and projects; and * Data management and organization * Translating documents from English to Spanish * Bilingual assistance with client interviews * Assisting with immigrants rights cases
If you are interested in applying, please send a cover letter and resume to Amy Cruice, Legal Program Administrator at: cruice@aclu-md.org
