Front Desk Assistants volunteer under the supervision of our Office Manager and carry out administrative tasks and provide client services.

This position has considerable contact with the public. Successful volunteers in this position will have compassion, a respectful and accepting attitude, good personal hygiene, and dress appropriately in clean clothes. A polite and understanding attitude towards clients and other volunteers is mandatory. If you consider yourself a people person, this volunteer opportunity is for you!

All volunteers are required to sign a confidentiality agreement to ensure information on individuals served is not disclosed to anyone other than staff members.

Specific duties include:

  • Answering telephone calls and directing them to appropriate staff members
  • Registering clients for food shelf services
  • Using the computer to enter service and donation data
  • Administering bus passes and thrift store vouchers
  • Assisting clients in the food shelf when needed
*Due to COVID-19, we are offering curbside pickup only. As the Front Desk Assistant, you will greet clients at their vehicles to assess their needs.

Description

The BRICK Ministries is a partnered effort between local churches, businesses, and residents who share our mission of compassionately helping people in need, serving residents of Ashland and Bayfield counties. The BRICK is a Food Shelf program that distributes food and personal care items at four locations: Ashland, Cable, Cornucopia, and Mellen. The BRICK also offers a Benevolence Program that assists with emergency financial resources and provides referrals. The Benevolence Program focuses on budgeting and goal setting.
