The Area Agency on Aging 3 is looking for compassionate and patient volunteers with strong communication skills to assist elder victims of crime in recovering and getting back their lives. Volunteer opportunities through our Victim Assistance Program offer a variety of different activities from community education and public relations to directly supporting a senior or adult with disabilities who has had his/her world turned upside-down by the actions of others. At times our volunteers work with staff, at other times they may work independently. Our volunteers regularly comment on how rewarding it is to know they have made a difference in the lives of people in need.
The volunteer will support the AAA3's mission of providing person-centered support that inspires, educates and empowers elders, adults with disabilities and their caregivers.
Victim Assistance Program volunteer opportunities exist in Allen, Auglaize, Hancock, Hardin, Putnam, Mercer and Van Wert Counties in west-central Ohio. Attending a short orientation is required and additional training will be offered throughout the year on relevant topics to ensure that the volunteers have the necessary knowledge and skills to feel comfortable in their roles and effectivly assist program clients.
