The mission of CASA for Kids is to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in Washington County, Pennsylvania in the Juvenile court system. By training community volunteers to serve as factfinders and to speak for children in court, children's needs are met to ensure safety, permanency, and the opportunity to thrive in their lives.
CASA for Kids recruits, screens, trains and supports community members who come from all walks of life to serve as an advocate for a child in dependency court. The volunteer visits with the child at least once a month where they live and gets to know the child. The volunteer gathers information from any person or organization providing services or support to the child. Safety measures, such as masking, visiting outside and social distancing are utilized for visits, information gathering, and court appearances.
Being a Court Appointed Special Advocate is a unique volunteer experience. Being a CASA volunteer gives community members a powerful advocacy role in the life of a child and in our child welfare system.

Mission Statement
The mission of CASA is to speak for the best interests of abused and neglected children in the courts. We promote and support quality volunteer representation for children to provide each child a safe, permanent, nurturing home.
Description
Every year more than half a million abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nurturing homes. That's where CASA steps in. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) was created in 1977 to make sure the abuse and neglect these children originally suffered at home doesn't continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system. As trained advocates, CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court. The result is that a child is placed into a safe, loving home where he/she can thrive. It is the CASA vision to provide a volunteer for each and every abused and neglected child who needs one.
