Family Support Services (FSS) is currently seeking interested professionals to apply for membership on its Board of Directors.

FSS was founded in 1989 as Family Support Services of the Bay Area. Our mission is to nurture children, youth and caregivers to keep families healthy and intact.With an operating budget of $5 million, and a staff of 40+ employees; we serve over a 1000 people each year.

Family Support Services provides culturally appropriate, trauma-informed care to under-resourced families facing challenges in caring for their children in the following programs:

• Family Preservation, which are intensive, strength-based, home-based services for families involved with child welfare, whose children are in risky situations, at risk for abuse or neglect and facing out of home placement;
• Kinship Support Services, an alternative to traditional foster care, which provides support to allow relative caregivers to keep their kin children in their homes through case management, support groups, parenting workshops, legal assistance, and youth services;
• Respite/Child Care which provide short-term respite/child care designed to give caregivers a needed break from the daily demands of caring for their children, including children with special needs and those in foster care.

With offices in Oakland and San Francisco, FSS serves families in San Francisco, Alameda, and Contra Costa counties.

FSS is focused on adding professionals to the board with expertise in marketing/branding, program growth, and fund development. If you are a professional willing to take on a leadership role with a non-profit focused on families and children, we may be the place for you to have a positive impact.
