Friends of CASA is a membership organization that is committed to improving the lives of neglected and abused children. Through community awareness, special initiatives, and fundraising efforts, we proudly support CASA of Douglas County, a nonprofit agency that trains Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) advocating for children in the foster care system.
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
We invite you to join us and become a Friend of CASA! Your membership will directly benefit the children served by CASA of Douglas County. Please email Friends of CASA for more information at friendsofcasa@casaomaha.org.

Mission Statement

CASA for Douglas County trains, inspires and empowers volunteer advocates to improve the lives of children that have been abused and neglected. Empowering volunteers ensures children involved in the child welfare system have a dedicated, passionate, and powerful voice advocating for their best interest. CASA stands up for children and holds out hope for safe, loving, and permanent homes while providing critical and transformative resources, recommendations, and solutions.

Description

A CASA Volunteer amplifies the voice for children in foster care who have been abused and neglected. Working in conjunction with case professionals and attorneys, a CASA Volunteer advocates for the best interests of a child. A CASA meets at least monthly with the child and attends monthly team meetings with case professionals, parents, and/or foster parents. A CASA will meet with teachers, daycare providers, medical and mental health providers, and other service providers as needed. At least once every six months, a CASA will write a court report with recommendations to the court. A CASA Volunteer will also attend periodic court hearings. No special background or education is required to become a CASA Volunteer! Read more information, explore the training calendar, and complete an application at www.casaomaha.org/volunteer.
