Get outside, up close and personal with nature! Best workout combo service project ever! As a Clarehouse Gardener you help maintain the lawn, gardens, annual and perennial beds, including:
- weeding beds and walkways
- pruning, trimming and removing last season's growth
- tidying beds, ensuring memorial stones/tributes are clearly visible
- plant annuals, bulbs, new or replacement bushes or trees
- ensure watering schedule
- remove spent blooms
- applying mulch
- removing trash/debris from creek/creekbanks
- sweeping or blowing patios, decks, outdoor areas, water features
- assessing plantings for stress or disease
- applying earth-friendly fertilizers, insecticidal soaps, pesticides
- exterior buildings
Gardener may serve individually or with gardening group. Gardener/s may "Adopt a Bed" for the season!
Dress for the weather. While Clarehouse tools, gloves, restroom facilities and water are available, most Gardeners prefer to bring your own equipment (gloves, boots, hats, goggles, pruners, shovels, etc., water/rehydration snacks).

Description
Clarehouse is a loving home for terminally ill people, providing living space, practical care and access to hospice services - devoted to the care of dying people and to the support of their loved ones. Clarehouse aims to meet the need of people who wish to die at home but lack the caregiver necessary to achieve that goal.
The Clarehouse campus supports our vision of a warm, loving, homelike environment for end-of-life care in a natural setting. The non-institutional, non-clinical feel of our home is coupled with the great compassion and experience of our (paid and unpaid!) staff to provide the next-best thing to home for our guests. In addition, our cooperative relationships with local hospices enable us to fill a critical gap in care without duplicating available services. We believe care of the dying to be an act of mercy that our community will continue to embrace and support as a worthwhile charitable endeavor. Clarehouse services are free of charge.
