In an effort to feed hungry children, we are now gearing up for our FallCommunity Food Drive. This particular food drive has been essential in keeping our pantry shelves stocked during the summer months when our food supply is exceedingly low. Here is how it works:
- Volunteers (up to four at a time) stand outside grocery stores for a 2-3 hour shift, to greet shoppers and explain they are collecting food for Families Forward to help provide food for families in need. Many shoppers are very happy to pick up a few extra items to donate.
- When shoppers come out of the store, volunteers collect donated items in a grocery cart.
- At the end of the shift, volunteers who worked the shift bring the food to the Families Forward pantry.
This year, our Fall Food Drive will take place on Saturday, September 24th from 9am - 3pm and Sunday, September 25th from 11:00am-3:00pm. We are hoping to have volunteer groups (up to 4 volunteers at a time) stationed outside of 15 local grocery stores on each day for a 2-3 hour shift. Families Forward would like to invite your group to be a part of our Fall Food Drive this year!
This is a fun-filled opportunity that is great for groups, teams, and families with young children, as you can volunteer together for a great cause! For more information on how to help - call Katie Szymczak at Families Forward, 949-379-8325.
