Our Hospice Volunteers are matched with patients and provide 4 hours a week of much needed respite for caregivers. You may be asked to play cards, read out loud, watch TV or simply provide presence. Volunteers act as companions only, they do not provide any physical cares or transfer assistance.
Volunteers are assigned to patients primarily in the East Metro area and some Mpls areas. We are always looking for volunteers who can serve in the South and Southeast Metro (Ex: Apple Valley, Burnsville, Cottage Grove).

HealthEast Hospice Care was the first Hospice program in Minnesota. We continue to be a leader within the Twin Cities community, proudly serving the six county metro area: Ramsey, Washington, Dakota, Hennepin and portions of Anoka and Chisago counties.
The word "hospice" dates back to a centuries-old tradition of preparing gifts for those about to set off on a long journey. Today, Hospice Care refers to an entire spectrum of services that focus on the unique physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of individuals who choose to live as fully as possible at life's end.
The definition of hospice is a philosophy of health care that affirms life and provides care and support for people facing a life-limiting illness. To us, it goes even deeper. People who’ve experienced HealthEast Hospice Care tell us we treat them like family. We focus on the quality of life, not the duration.
