JOB TITLE: County Fundraising Chairperson
PURPOSE: On a year-round basis, develop and implement diverse projects and activities to raise funds to support and meet the needs of the Special Olympics County Program
JOB DUTIES:
* Recruit screen and train members of the Fundraising Committee
* Review donor history database; update as needed with current contacts, e-mail, address & phone numbers
* Ensure annual fundraising plan is developed and implemented
* Conduct efficient and effective Fundraising Committee meetings.
* Adhere to SOFL specific and SOI policies and guidelines regarding sponsors, fundraising, language guidelines, use of logo and credit line
* Attend and fully participate in County Management Team Meetings.
* Forward the fundraising budget onto County Management Team for approval
* Follow the SOFL financial reporting system
* Ensure fundraising activities are coordinated between the county and local programs
* Evaluate fundraising plans, goals and objectives annually
* Recognize and thank committee members and volunteers who staff the various fundraising special events
* Submit an Application for Fundraising or Grant Approval Form to SOFL prior to event or grant submission
* Send report on each fundraiser to SOFL Development Department
* Submit a final report to the County Coordinator and assist with the completion of the County Accreditation Document
* Ensure proper insurance, Certificate of Insurance and safety checks have been performed for all special events.
QUALIFICATIONS: Ideally, the Chairperson should have the following:
Fundraising experience (school fundraisers, civic groups, etc.)
Good oral and written communication skills
Ability to delegate responsibilities to committee members
Marketing or public relations experience a plus
Sales experience beneficial
Computer skills
RECOMMENDED TRAINING:
* Review Special Olympics Florida (SOFL) Administration Manual (Fundraising, Finance, and Public Relations sections)
* Participate in County Fundraising Training Program.
* Review and be familiar with Special Olympics, Inc. (SOI), SOFL and County Sponsors.
* Review BBB and NCIP standards (read State, County, and City Solicitation guidelines as applicable).
* Attend Athletes for Outreach presentation.
* SOFL and County will inform the chairperson of conferences and community workshops, which are applicable, and encourage attendance.
TIME REQUIREMENT: A minimum of 5-10 hours per week (year-round)

Special Olympics Florida provides sports training and Olympic-style competition to more than 60,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and developmental disabilities throughout the state. Special Olympics Florida is a Level I Accredited Program (highest level of accreditation granted by SOI) and is divided into 11 area programs, which cover over 55 counties.
