Would you like to help us empower young children and their families? If so, consider volunteering at the Mid-Hudson Children's Museum! Volunteering your time, talents and skills at the Mid-Hudson Children's Museum is a great way to make a positive difference in the lives of children.
Perfect for volunteers with a specific interest in early education or with a skilled background in teaching, science, art, engineering or literacy. Work as a member of our Education team to facilitate Science Cart demonstrations, lead Art Studio activities, or bring storybooks to life by reading aloud to children.
As a volunteer, you will have direct contact with our visitors, and will be able to fulfill our mission in a very immediate way. Because of this, we will provide the proper screening and training to make sure that you will have a successful experience. Volunteer schedules are flexible and you may assist in multiple departments.

Mission Statement
To empower young children and their families.
Description
MHCM is the ONLY children’s museum in the Hudson River Valley between the larger New York City and Albany markets. The museum is located in the heart of the historic waterfront in Poughkeepsie, just steps away from the Poughkeepsie Metro-North train station, the Walkway Over the Hudson’s Elevator, fabulous restaurants, and a new city park.
MHCM has three areas of programmatic focus that direct its work in exhibits and educational programs: school readiness, health and wellness, and community-building. It’s galleries feature a variety of open-ended exhibits that encourage young children to practice and develop age-appropriate cognitive, physical and emotional skills. In 2016 MHCM opened two new learning spaces: The Science Center @ MHCM to advance early STEM education, and The Children’s Garden @ MHCM to teach families about growing their own food. The museum is dedicated to engaging and serving a diverse audience of families from all socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds and of all abilities and needs through special admission and membership programs.
