Do you want to make a difference in the lives of global women and girls? Are you eager to create a safer more equitable world for women and girls? We are currently seeking motivated and highly effective Vice President. We are building a strong base throughout the region and we are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated members to become a part of it! Meetings are held monthly in the LA area.

Our members and supporters are men, women, and children in cities around the country who give their time and resources to support a world where women of all ages have access to education and employment opportunities, and sustainable livelihoods that enable them to live free of gender-based violence.

UN Women USA LA advocates on behalf of UN Women locally throughout the Los Angeles region. We are currently seeking enthusiastic Communications professionals to be part of an inspiring team dedicated to supporting UN Women projects that span 100 countries around the globe! UN Women USNC LA Chapter Board Vice President
The ideal Vice President candidate would have a passion for and significant background in social justice, women's rights and social justice. We are looking for an energetic, creative individual to oversee the chapter's committees, follow up with committee chairs to ensure that projects and programming are aligned with mission and target goals. In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience mentoring coordinators and members by offering relevant ideas to create efficiencies within the chapter.

This role requires approximately 5-10 hours per week.

Responsibilities include:
  • Preside in the absence of the President;
  • Become President in the event of a vacancy in that office;
  • work with the President to design the strategic plans for the organization;
  • Work with the President to set long-range objectives for the sustainable expansion and development of the chapter;
  • Work with the President to ensure that the requirements of the Agreement with the U.S. National Committee are met
  • Oversee the activities of the Coordinators for all committees;
  • Perform all other duties incident to the office and such duties as may be directed by the President and the Board of Directors.

All applicants must demonstrate a high level of commitment and dedication in the cause of global and local women and girls.

Description

UN Women USA LA is a multi-community-based effort. As such, we maintain relevance to local women in the community, in a manner that is sustainable, cost effective and ecologically responsible. The Chapter strives to actualize an identifiable connection between local and global concerns put into practice by our projects, programs and advocacy efforts. This includes research, education and advocacy for underserved women and girls in support of international programs for UN Women. We endeavor to partner with private and public sectors, non-for-profit organizations and concerned individuals in order to raise awareness and support for UN Women.
