CWB provides clean water to students in Bangladesh
CWB Ring Well at Teriail High School

Web Developer

Chemists Without Borders is working on solving humanitarian problems in a number of countries using the expertise of chemists in our community but also with a number of non-chemists.

In Bangladesh, for example, we are working to provide clean water to communities who have many wells contaminated with arsenic.

We are also developing chemistry kits using small quantities of chemicals for high school students in Sierra Leone. This will allow schools without a chemistry lab to still do chemistry experiments.

We are also working on a project to combat climate change by extracting the carbon in dead plants, thus preventing it from returning to the atmosphere as CO2, where it can continue trapping excess heat from the sun.

Chemists Without Borders has an exciting volunteer opportunity for a web developer who will join the development team to finish our new website and maintain it as the number and complexity of our projects increase. The position includes uploading content to Wordpress, simple graphic editing, and basic HTML coding.

Essential Job Duties:
  • Posting content to the web via Wordpress
  • Creating/editing snippets of HTML, PHP, JS, and CSS
  • Other duties as assigned related to the redesign project
  • Monitor the security of the website through Google Analytics

Required skills:
  • Prior working knowledge of content management systems
  • Web savvy with the ability to edit HTML, PHP, JS and CSS code

Preferred skills:
  • Ability to take direction and manage priorities
  • Excellent time management
  • Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and search engine optimization experience preferred

Note

While the above qualifications are desirable, passion about our mission, desire to make a difference in the world, and the willingness to work hard to achieve goals often compensate for specific educational and experience qualifications.
