This annual weekend camp allows children living in Pasco, Hernando and Citrus counties, ages 5 to 17, who experienced the death of a loved one, share their feelings of loss with others. Camp is offered to not only hospice families but to any child who has lost a loved one. Over three days, children engage in experiences that combine healing with fun, letting children know that life still has a lot to offer. For 2017, camp has a new name-Camp REACH OUT, which stands for Remembering Everything About Coping, Hope, Openness, Understanding and Trust.

HPH Hospice is looking for Cabin Volunteers to assist the Cabin Leaders in all activities (must be available all weekend). Cabin Volunteers are with the kids most of the time to include meals and sleeping.

Support Volunteers assist with the set up and take down of activities, assist in monitoring activities such as arts and crafts, pool activities, ropes course and other land activities. Support Volunteers work "behind the scenes" to make sure all activities are ready for the children. Support Volunteer's can attend the entire weekend or single days.

We are looking for volunteers who want to help stage and set up on Friday afternoon before camp starts and to take down on Sunday after kids leave.

We are also looking for two certified Life Guards for Saturday afternoons activities.

Please see our web site for additional information Chaptershealth.org.

Must be able to provide your own transportation to Lakewood Retreat 25458 Dan Brown Hill Rd, Brooksville, FL 34602. Orientation classes will be held in East Pasco, West Pasco, Hernando and Citrus Counties. Must attend one orientation session.

Mission Statement

HPH Hospice is where excellence in compassionate care maximizes quality of life

Description

HPH Hospice, founded in 1982, is a not-for-profit organization offering medical, emotional, social and spiritual support services to patients and families living in Pasco, Hernando and Citrus counties. HPH Hospice cares for families and patients affected by life-limiting illness, grief or loss. We care for the majority of our patients in their own home, surrounded by the things and the people they love. We also provide care to patients in nursing homes and assisted living facilities and in our Hospice Care Centers.

We believe dying is a uniquely significant time in every person’s life. We also believe caring for the dying requires a different pace and set of skills than other kinds of health care, with primary emphasis on physical comfort and emotional support. We believe that every individual deserves to receive care without feeling demeaned or like a burden. That family and friends need caring support, too
