PLACEMENT PURPOSE
Ever wonder how museums get cleaned? Because museums have the goal of preserving objects in their collections, they use gentler techniques, solvents, and different equipment and supplies than residential or commercial housekeepers. But did you know that these methods are also applicable to your own home? Want to learn how to adopt a greener and more respectful cleaning ethos towards your children, plants, or pets? Have antiques of your own which you wish to preserve? Come learn the basics of preventive conservation while helping to clean the new Clara Barton Museum!
OPEN TIME DAYS
2-5 hours per week
Special opportunity available at the Clara Barton, Chapter #1 only, which is in the midst of being developed into a new Red Cross history museum. Training will be provided by the Museum Manager with support of online technique videos and the new housekeeping manual. Training might also be provided by other volunteers who have already been trained.
