PLACEMENT PURPOSE
The American Red Cross - New Jersey Region is committed to a multi-year national Home Fire Campaign (HFC), which aims to reduce home fire death and injury rates by 25 over 5 years. Launched in October 2014 the HFC in NJ will target neighborhoods at-risk for home fires by installing & testing smoke alarms, providing fire safety & preparedness education to its residents. As a volunteer HFC Installer you will be part of an Install Strike Team (IST) made up of at least 2-3 volunteers & will be active in installing alarms in residents homes thorugh an 'Install by appointment' approach as well as regular larger weekend canvassing & install events. We will build multiple IST's throughout the Disaster Cycle Services (DCS) territories in the NORTH, CENTRAL & SOUTH of NJ.

External: Residents, Community, Fire Departments, Red Cross Partner organizations
American Red Cross Volunteer Orientation
General Preparedness Overview Orientation (can be done remotely)
Smoke Alarm Installation, Fire Safety Education/Documentation Training workshop (1-2 hours)
Disaster Cycle Services: An Overview (online - recommended, but optional)
