PLACEMENT PURPOSE
Staff Services provides the activities and services necessary to ensure the ability of Red Cross staff, including spontaneous volunteers, to meet the needs of the people and communities when disaster strikes. The Local Community Volunteers is responsible for the recruitment, placement, training, processing, assigning and recognition for all volunteers from within the affected area.
OPEN TIME DAYS
24 hours to get started then varies depending on major disaster activity or disaster exercises (usuallly once or twice a year)
REQUIRED TRAININGTo start out (all courses free of charge):
* Orientation to the American Red Cross (online self-study)
* CPR & First Aid (8 hour classroom or 4 hour blended learning)
* Disaster Services: An Overview
*Train on Red Cross data base
To become a Local Community Volunteers Service Associate (all courses free of charge):
* Staff Services : Community Volunteers (1 hour webinar)
To become a Supervisor (all courses free of charge)
* Disaster Frontline Supervisor & Simulation (8 hour classroom)
* Other training as currently required for Volunteer Connection Disaster Workforce Admin.｠
