someone passionate about writing and making a difference. NAAHP is seeking a new member for our communications team to serve as a writer-editor for NAAHP. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, discernment, flexibility, and a passion for NAAHP’s mission. The individual will write, prepare and or edit documents for NAAHP. Ideal candidate makes sure all work follows editorial policies and standards. Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within community is helpful. Individual relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job; and is able to work independently and or under immediate supervision. Communications Editor-Writer reports to the Director of Communications.
Responsibilities:
Writes, edits, proofreads, and formats assigned documents
Follows clearly defined work processes and standards
Works under limited supervision
Reviews submitted articles, newsletters, press releases, letters and or other documents to determine the grammatical appropriateness of the material for the publication and or dissemination
Ensures that NAAHP written communications reflect logical and organizational structure; and contains correct grammar, syntax, spelling, and punctuation
Produces and or reviews a wide variety of written communications that may be complex and require a high degree of tact and diplomacy
Performs independent research, interviews, analyze information and composes clear, concise copy
May mentor or train interns and or entry level editors
May lead projects or perform project management tasks
Completes tasks as assigned by Communication Manager or Director of Communications
Requirements:
Advanced knowledge of English grammar
Strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills
Outstanding communication (verbal and written) skills, and an exceptional attention to detail
Proficient in MS Office software or other tools
Cooperative team member
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with competing deadlines a plus
Undergraduate degree in English, communication, or a related area desirable

Founded in 2011, the National Alliance for the Advancement of Haitian Professionals (NAAHP) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization established by diverse group of forward-thinking industry experts, youth leaders, faculty, public and nonprofit sector professionals from Haiti and its global diaspora. NAAHP is focused on connecting a global community of peers with career advancement resources as well as fostering transformative relationships between NAAHP members and committed stakeholders to strengthen Haiti through philanthropy and social entrepreneurship.
