The National Alliance for the Advancement of Haitian Professionals (NAAHP) is looking for someone passionate about communications and making a difference. NAAHP is seeking a new member for our communications team to serve as Communications Manager. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, discernment, flexibility, and a passion for NAAHP’s mission. The Communications Manager is responsible for managing and implementing NAAHP’s overall communications plan. The Communications Manager plays an important role in deploying an integrated approach to communications that leverages multiple platforms to engage audiences and generates a positive response to NAAHP. This individual will support the Director of Communications by helping with external and internal communication needs including all press relations efforts. Individual creates, implements and oversees communications programs that effectively describes and promotes the organization and its mission. The Communications Manager relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish NAAHP communication goals. The Communications Manager performs a variety of tasks; and leads and directs the work of other communication team members. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. The Communications Manager reports to the Director of Communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with Communications Team to develop and implement plans to promote the people, activities, events, and achievements of the NAAHP

  • Writes and edits materials for communicating with network, stakeholders, partners, membership, staff, media, and or other key audiences

  • Supports the increase visibility of NAAHP within key audiences and media

  • Implements strategic communications programs to achieve significant increases in NAAHP awareness with external audiences

  • Identifies and develops opportunities for NAAHP to enhance its reputation and amplify its key messages

  • Assists with press releases, media and conference opportunities

  • Supports the development of newsletters that showcases NAAHP’s leadership, activities, events or achievements.

  • Supports global internal communication efforts through newsletters and executive communications

  • Produces monthly reports of communications activities and effectiveness

  • Aids in the preparation of presentations and/or speeches geared to internal and or external audiences

  • Provides supervision and direction to communications staff

  • Assists with the coordination of press relation activities and or media coverage

  • Functions as a primary liaison to the media and serves as a spokesperson for the NAAHP

  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with local, national, and international press

  • Helps prepare staff for media interviews, speaking engagements, and or special communication requests

  • Tracks and analyzes media coverage. Prepares reports and presentations for senior leadership

  • Represents NAAHP at internal and offsite events to build and leverage relationships with community stakeholders and partners

  • Identifies and creates partnerships with media, community organizations, and businesses that can help amplify NAAHP’s messages

  • Produces a variety of content, including feature articles, news releases, media pitches, and or other communication documents

  • Coordinates with NAAHP social media team by assisting with strategy, implementation, and contribution of content for NAAHP many social media platforms

  • Maintains professional standards in NAAHP relationships

  • Mentors and or trains interns and other communications staff

  • Completes communications tasks as assigned by Director of Communications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and or significant experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field

  • Excellent writing and verbal communications skills, and an exceptional attention to detail

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders in a very diverse community

  • Energetic, creative, and resourceful individual who demonstrates initiative in finding opportunities to promote NAAHP

  • Strong media relations skills with a successful track record of national media placements desirable

  • Solid relationships with media professionals a plus

  • Proficiency with social media, presentation software, database tools, and spreadsheet/word processing software a plus

  • Supportive and cooperative team member

  • Fast and effective decision-making abilities

  • Familiarity with a variety of the community's concepts, practices, and procedures is desirable

  • Must already be or become NAAHP Member

NAAHP is focused on connecting a global community of peers with career advancement resources as well as fostering transformative relationships between NAAHP members and committed stakeholders to strengthen Haiti through philanthropy and social entrepreneurship.
