THIS IS A TRAVELING SHELTER, WITH OPPORTUNITIES FROM LADY'S ISLAND TO HILTON HEAD ISLAND AND IN BETWEEN!
This is a unique opportunity for those of us with limited time and schedules. We are seeking Overnight Hosts to assist with our families.
Overnight Volunteers arrive at the host congregation around 8:00 PM and stay with the families until 7:00 AM the next morning. Overnight hosts are our emergency contact through the night, without them this program would be impossible to run. They wake up with our families in the morning and may even assist with making lunches and getting breakfast into the little ones. This is perfect for singles, couples and seniors who would like to have a little more individualized time with our families.
Family Promise relies on local congregations to physically house our families overnight for one week at a time, this is where the families eat dinner, relax after a long day, spend time with volunteers before heading to bed. Our support churches range from Lady's Island to Hilton Head Island and everywhere in between, which means minimal commuting!
Each Church houses our families for a week at a time around 3-4 times per year.
With this model, it gives you the liberty to really choose your involvement level. You may decide that you want to participate only when your area church is involved, or when we are in Beaufort, Hilton Head, etc. It is completely up to you! From once a month to 3 times a year, whatever works for you!

We provide food, shelter, and support services for homeless families. We provide advice and advocacy for at-risk families to prevent their becoming homeless. And we educate people about poverty and the means to combat it.
Description
Family Promise of Beaufort County partners with local congregations, individuals, families, other social service agencies, foundations and businesses to provide shelter and viable solutions for families with children who are facing a housing crisis. The Family Promise Case Manager provides comprehensive case management and assistance in securing employment, medical care, childcare, school placement and ultimately affordable housing.
