Regency Hospice is committed to the idea that nobody should ever die alone. Vigil Volunteers provide companionship, emotional and spiritual support to patients and families by keeping vigil with patients in their final days and hours. Vigil volunteer s provide a calm, quite, gentle presence at the bedside of a patient in hospice care who is actively dying.
These volunteers may serve in patient's residence or nursing facilities without family or friends available or by providing support to family members who need a break from the bedside of their loved one.
Vigil Volunteers are to be available as needed (with respect to volunteers schedule and location). They will be adequately trained and must have empathy, compassion, and the willingness to help others.
