Grant Writer(s) Needed for ongoing grant applications to Foundations, Federal Government, State Government, Corporations and Family Funds. You would become part of our fundraising team, which includes two outstanding team members, an Online Auction Manager and a Donor Management Coordinator.

Ideal candidate has a background in grantwriting and effective internet and library research. Will work directly with Founder/Director, meeitng once a week for discussion, planning and updates by Skype, telephone and e-mail. You will not be left alone. Grants.gov and SAM.gov systems are in place to apply for Federal Grants. Most submissions will be adjusting already written documents, for our programs and general support.

If experienced in government grants, especially regarding employment, supportive services, land and real estate, even better. Perfect for government retiree who wants to stay active with non-profits!

We use ASANA to organize grants and track progress, so a person who is well versed in this system is certainly an asset! We will not be changing management systems in the near future. We maintain a solid calendar for applications, and research weekly for new sources of funding and use several sources to find grants.

Applicant for this position should be a strong writer, with the ability to make a good case for our cause. Must be mature, self-starting, articulate, organized and consistent. Ideal candidtate needs to be even tempered, a team player, cooperative, and in a personal stable financial situation, as grants require time and this is not a fast moving endeavor. We are seeking a person(s) who can commit at least two years to this position. We have found that our most effective volunteers have been with us for an average of 2.5 years, are in a stable job, or retired.

Our best situation would be to maintain a grantwriting team with 3 experienced applicants, who can devote between 7 to 10 hours each per week, consistently. In that event, we will separate the workload into:

  • Federal and State Grants
  • Foundation Grants
  • Corporate Grants and Sponsorships

This is a volunteer position, also appropriate for University/College Departments that have a fundraising training program.

We are a very small organization with targeted services, and in 2016, we served over 200 veterans and active duty military in an array of group and individual services

If interested, please send your resume and/or bio, and best times available for possible phone interview.
