Associate members have knowledge of or experience in areas that meet the needs of the Squad. To name a few examples, this can be in the form of a photographer, historian, treasurer, and people who can help with social media and websites. People of many various skills can be advantageous to the squad. Rescue associate members and EMS associate members are also opportunities available to those who would like to be a part of the squad, but cannot commit to full active membership.

The purpose of this organization is to save lives, relieve the suffering of the sick and injured, and promote safety.
Description
The Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad, PFARS, is the primary provider of Emergency Medical and Technical Rescue services to Princeton and Princeton University in Mercer County, New Jersey. Founded in 1939, we are a volunteer-led, non-profit department and not a division of any hospital or municipality. PFARS is staffed 24 hours a day by approximately 90 rigorously trained volunteer and career personnel. PFARS offers its members the NJ Emergency Medical Technician course and other advanced medical and operational courses to maintain a cohesive and trained membership. Members of the community who are interested in volunteering with the Squad are encouraged to visit www.pfars.org, e-mail recruiting@pfars.org, or call (609) 924-3338 to learn more about EMS, technical rescue, and administrative opportunities.
