Delivering Goodness

Many of our neighbors are home-bound and unable to get the nourishment they need. Through this collaborative effort our Home Delivery program provides essential groceries to seniors in need.

Volunteers begin their shift at CES, 1900 11th Ave S to top of pre-packed groceries with perishable food items. Volunteers then drive to a nearby apartment complex to deliver groceries directly to the clients.

Task:

  • Pack perishable groceries
  • Load Van at CES
  • Unload Van at Horn Towers
  • Deliver grocery bags to residents’ apartments

Good to Know:

  • Be able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Wear closed toe shoes.
  • Dress for weather.
  • Street parking only.
  • Volunteers may end their time from the apartment building (no need to return to CES).

About Community Emergency Service

Location:

1900 11th Ave. South, Minneapolis, MN 55404, US

Mission Statement

Community Emergency Service transforms lives by serving neighbors, sharing resources and becoming community - a place where people come hungry and leave hopeful.

Description

Community Emergency Service is a multi-service non-profit organization that runs a number of food based assistance programs for Minneapolis residents. Our main programs include: Food Shelf, Meals on Wheels, Home Delivery, Bonus Friday Distribution, and East African Food Distribution.

CES is located within one of the most diverse, densely populated neighborhoods in Minneapolis; over 20,000 people live within its boundaries. 46% of families living in the Phillips neighborhood are below the federal poverty level.

At CES, we strive to serve all our neighbors in need without distinction or test. We invite support from volunteers and donors and are open to collaboration with other agencies, regardless of religious affiliation.

Will you help us move people from hunger to hope?
