When puppy foster parents need some time off, our "puppy sitters" take over. Puppy sitters care for our dogs in their homes on weekends or during vacations when the dog's raiser needs time off. The puppy sitter is responsible for driving the puppy to and from school on regular school days. The puppy sitter is also responsible for ensuring the safety of the dog during its stay with them and following the program's guidelines for care and feeding. These guidelines are provided to the sitter in advance of their first assignment. We provide for all the dogs' needs (food, crate, supplies) and medical care.

Mission Statement
Empowering Kids - Changing Lives - One Dog at a Time
Description
Our core program is offered at the Dorothy Student Thomas Center, a school for Exceptional Student Education within the Hillsborough County Public School system. This school serves as an alternative for students with extreme emotional and behavior disorders or other disorders that prevent them from attending a main stream public school.
While the focus of our programs is to help at-risk youth, we continue to serve people in need...because once the dogs are trained, they are placed with individuals in the community who have certified needs. These dogs go on to empower others through their service as a therapy or companion dog for those suffering from PTSD or anxieties and children with autism...giving them the chance to regain their independence and resume a more productive life.
