Anyone who has been to a Girls on the Run 5K knows that it is unlike any other running event. It is a celebration of and for the girls who are completing a ten-week season of Girls on the Run programming. By the day of the 5K, their enthusiasm is so unbridled that they are running around before the race! Positive energy abounds as the girls dance to warm-up music, get their hair "happied" and "tattoos" on their faces, and gather with their teammates to hold hands as they head to the starting line. Our 5K is a non-competitive event that will bring a smile to your face! You will be so glad you joined us!

Anyone Can Volunteer at Girls on the Run... and Everyone Is Welcome! GOTRVT volunteers are just good-hearted people with the commitment to give to a great cause. They are parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, community members, teachers, coaches (in any sport), runners, employees of sponsoring companies and high school students earning community service hours. And no matter who you are, we value every single hour of time that our generous volunteers give and welcome new helpers year round.

Mission Statement

We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. We envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. Our Girls on the Run core values include: Recognize our power and responsibility to be intentional in our decision making; Embrace our differences and find strength in our connectedness; Express joy, optimism and gratitude through our words, thoughts and actions; Nurture our physical, emotional and spiritual health; Lead with an open heart and assume positive intent; Stand up for ourselves and others.

Description

At Girls on the Run we inspire ALL girls to build confidence and make intentional decisions, while fostering care and compassion for self and others. We train and support our volunteer coaches in using physical activity and dynamic discussions to build social, emotional and physical skills in every girl while encouraging healthy habits for life.

The 3rd-5th grade program, Girls on the Run, encourages girls of all abilities to recognize their individual strengths and celebrate connections with others. Our tested curriculum blends physical activity with skill development that enables girls to adapt to whatever comes their way. In today’s unpredictable world, the strategies learned at Girls on Run are more important than ever.

Heart & Sole is Girls on the Run's middle school program that meets the unique needs of girls in 6th-8th grade. The program considers the whole girl - body, brain, heart, spirit and social connection. Girls need an inclusive place where they feel supported and inspired to explore their emotions, cultivate empathy and strengthen their physical and emotional health.

We welcome enthusiastic, dedicated and positive volunteers who are committed to empowering girls with valuable life lessons. Our spring season is 8 weeks and culminates with a 5K Celebration for all teams. The finish line is just the beginning!
