ORGANIZATION: Survivor Tails Animal Rescue

Survivor Tails Animal Rescue

This volunteer generates ideas and leads events for educating the public about the plight of the rescue dog and the benefits of adoption on the overall community, and works on ways to dispel myths on rescue animals and misunderstood breeds, including Pit Bull types, Dobermans, Rottweilers, German Shepherds, etc. This coordinator will work with both the foster and events teams to set up events like "Kissing booths" and "Meet a bully" days, get education collateral distributed at all of STAR's exposure events, and determine new and fun ways to get our message out. The role will also involve educating current and future dog owners on responsible dog ownership including but not limited to, the importance of spaying and neutering, microchipping, licensing pets, etc. This is a new department, and the ideas, structure, and plans can largely be established by the coordinator we bring into it. Someone local is preferred. Average volunteer time is 5-10 hours per week.

Mission Statement

Survivor Tails Animal Rescue is a 501(c)3 registered, foster based animal rescue that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes abused, neglected, and unwanted cats and dogs. We aim to decrease the euthanasia rates of our high-kill shelter partners by promoting adoption and educating the public on the importance of spaying/neutering and microchipping their pets. Lastly, we strive to maintain a network of dependable foster families, capable veterinarians, and experienced trainers to ensure preparedness of our rescued pets for healthy, fulfilling lives in their adoptive homes.

Description

More than 4 million cats and dogs die each year in animal shelters across the country due to overpopulation issues. That's why we're here. Our mission is twofold: to find these unwanted animals loving homes of their own and to work with communities and like-minded organizations to stop the issue of overpopulation from the top. We don't want to just put a bandage on the issue, we want to prevent animal homelessness from the getgo.
