Notes for Notes(r) is looking for people with music experience to work with youth to help them advance their skills on guitar, bass, drums, piano/keys/synths, singing, DJ turntables and more. Many of our youth are interested in songwriting, recording and music production as well. Youth participants are between the ages of 5 and 18 and come in to the Studios to explore, create and record. Some are trying an instrument for the first time, others are advanced and looking to collaborate, build a band and record tracks. If you have a passion for music and want to share it with the younger members of our community, please consider volunteering! Commitments and hours are flexible and we’re open to new collaborative ideas. The Atlanta Studio is currently open Mon-Fri from 12 to 7 PM.

Description
Notes for Notes (N4N) is a national nonprofit organization which builds, equips and staffs afterschool recording studios packed with guitars, drums, keys/synths, DJ gear, digital music stations and full recording studio setups offering youth completely FREE access to explore, create and record music. N4N partners with Boys & Girls Clubs and other afterschool programs to build its Studios within their facilities. We currently operate 10 studios nationwide in San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles area, Nashville, Brooklyn, Atlanta and coming soon to Detroit and Houston. We don't censor lyrics nor promote ourselves as an anti-gang/drug program...it is all about music and the positive bonds that form as a result.
N4N was founded in 2006 in Santa Barbara, CA on the core belief that music is the universal language of humankind, and has the power to transcend virtually any barrier--be it economic, cultural, racial, or societal. Inspired by the Big Brothers mentorship program and a lack of contemporary musical equipment in schools, N4N was created to fill the void of musical opportunities while also providing guidance for youth to help foster positive growth and development. Music offers a positive and constructive alternative to the many negative opportunities present in the hours right after school. N4N Studios provide a route via which youth may redirect their energy into activities that benefit themselves, their community and the world at large. We focus on one-on-one and small group instruction so that students receive the attention they need to excel in pursuing their musical goals. As a free program, we provide a "classless" environment where youth can try music risk-free and interact with others from all different backgrounds. N4N programs keep musical instruments in the hands of youth and provide recording studio venues for them to make music both for mastering their instruments, and for playing music with each other (even from across the cross-country).
