PCSO, one of Kentucky’s oldest nonprofits serving the sexual minority and gender expansive community, is looking for compassionate and enthusiastic volunteers to help staff the PCSO Pride Center. By covering the phones, greeting guests, and helping out with other routine office work, you can help PCSO expand access to our organization, gain valuable communication skills, and learn more about the community we serve. We offer flexible hours in a relaxed environment and believe that a diverse team is a strong team!

Responsibilities:

  • Refer members of the community to resources on request, either via phone or in person
  • Encourage a friendly and welcoming environment for the community center
  • Respond to questions and requests for information
  • Help keep the center organized and presentable

The Pride Community Services Organization works to improve the lives of people in the sexual minority and gender expansive community of Central and Eastern Kentucky by enhancing visibility, empowering community members, and educating the public about issues impacting said community. Our vision is that we will be creating safe, inclusive spaces where every LGBTQ+ Kentuckian is celebrated and supported.

Description

Our objectives are:
- Educate:
The PCSO offers community resources, a monthly magazine, social media, and a LGBTQ+ library
- Enhance:
The PCSO organizes, participates, and collaborates in distinct visibility activities such as Lexington's annual Pride Festival
- Empower:
The PCSO spear-heads vital programming such as the Gay-Straight Alliance for Youth, discussion groups, and a safe environment at the Pride Center

  • Must be at least 16
