ESL Instructor:

1. Design units and lesson plans that align with the course curriculum.

2. Develop lessons that include vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, and literary review writing.

3. Each class, allow time for the learners to read the classic literature provided in class.

4. Assign exercises and homework for them to submit their writings, based on their readings.

5. Initiate class discussions about the readings, group activities, and paired work.

6. Administer quizzes and tests to assess student progress.

7. Use content-relevant, multi-media displays on the large screen in order to engage the learners.

8. Employ education games for fun learning.

9. Email a scanned copy of the attendance sheets to Alyson at the end of each week.

   Course Goals:

• The learners acquire and develop an English communication competency, particularly with reading and writing

• The instructor provides a safe space for ESL levels 1-4 to feel comfortable in expressing their level of skills in English, through class-encouragement and teacher-support.

• Meet the learners’ social, vocational, and academic communication needs, including life skills and beginning to intermediate English grammar and linguistic knowledge.

• read with greater comprehension

• write sentence structures and coherent paragraphs with greater fluency

• exhibit improved communicative competency via reading and writing.
