ORGANIZATION: FAMILY BUILDING BLOCKS

Work closely with teachers to provide warmth, love, and positive experiences for children by providing respite support. As a volunteer, you should be able to respect and interact appropriately with children, take direction from classroom teachers (allowing them to remain the child's primary caregiver), and maintain professional boundaries with families. The volunteer will be responsible for assisting with classroom set-up and clean up, supporting child transitions, and assisting teachers and children while they're in the classroom or on the playground.

Mission Statement

"Keeping Children Safe and Families Together"

Description

Family Building Blocks is the Relief Nursery of Marion and Polk counties. Committed to "Keeping Children Safe and Families Together" since 1997, our loving and dedicated team have provided a supportive parenting community to families with young children facing overwhelming life circumstances. With 10 locations spanning both counties, we are able to partner with over 1,200 children and 800 families each year. Annually, 99% of children in our programs remain living safely with their families, avoiding foster care and the devastation of abuse and neglect.

Our partnerships are free and voluntary. We are the only organization of our kind in our community. We meet families with young children where they are: physically in their homes and on their parenting journeys through Home Visiting, Therapeutic Classrooms, Parenting Education, play groups, and more.
