Get outside, exercise, and raise money for Ruff House Rescue all at the same time! Wooftrax is a mobile app (available for both iOS and Android) that enables animal lovers to raise money for animal rescues every time they go for a walk. Supporters simply need to check in to the app when they go for a walk. Each walker's distance is recorded and added to the rescue's weekly sum.
Wooftrax calculates your mileage and time, maps your route, and reports your stats for the day, month, and year. Wooftrax donates approximately $0.11 to $0.25 per mile! As an added benefit, they provide free veterinarian advice ($118/year value) for your pets via text messaging -- directions provided at the very bottom. Length of term: Must use the app for at least 20 minutes once per week.
Community Hours: No letter is provided BUT your time and distance exercised are recorded on the cell phone application. You can take a screenshot of your phone with the hours and distance walked and attach it for your documentation. If you need a phone number, please list the Wooftrax phone: (607) 216-9757 and email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please consult with your representative to see if this documentation will suffice for your community service requirements. See the bottom of the job posting for how to view your stats.

F.A.Q.: Additional Questions: http://www.wooftrax.com/faq How do donations work? Funds from each donation period are divided among shelters and rescues based on the number of people who are actively walking for each organization as seen on the Impact tab of the app. The more active walkers per donation period, the more (and more often!) that organization receives in donations. What is an "active walker?" An active walker is anyone who uses the app an average of at least once per week. Does the app use any data on my phone? The app does not use any data during a walk and only uses a small amount of data at the end of the walk to credit it to your selected organization. If you are on Wi-Fi at the end of your walk, it will not use any data at all. Is using the GPS on the app using my data plan? GPS as a technology does not use any data, and the Walk for a Dog app works without data. Once a user’s phone is back in range of Wi-Fi or a cell signal, the app (on the next use) will upload the previous walk. I have a technical question about the app. Who should I contact? First, make sure that you are using the most recent version of the app. Updating to the most recent version will solve most issues. If you are still having trouble, email email@example.com with the make and model of your phone and the email address you used to register the app. Can I walk on a treadmill, or use a stationary bike? The Walk for a Dog app is designed for walking outdoors and uses GPS to track your walks. It won't show miles if you are walking indoors on a treadmill.
FREE VETERINARIAN ADVICE BY TEXT MESSAGE: 1. Use the Wooftrax application at least once per week. 2. Text "Wooftrax" to the number they provide in your welcome email. 3. A website will be texted to you. 4. Go to the website and enter your contact information and questions regarding your pet for the veterinarian to answer. (Example: My 1 year old dog has white discharge coming from his left eye.) 5. A vet will contact you via text message.
HOW TO VIEW YOUR STATS (Community Service Hours): 1. Go to History 2. Click into each walk for the Date/Time of the day, Distance, and Time it took to walk VIDEO OF PJ & CLOVE (scroll down to the bottom of the page): PJ had been sober for 2 years and he didn't have a job, he didn't have any accountability, he made the decision to start looking for a dog. A rescue group (Ruff House Rescue) had pulled Clove from a kill shelter. PJ just found a place to live. He got a call from the rescue and she was like, "PJ can you pick up Clove right now?" The first day PJ got Clove she was so scared and shut down, it was very awkward. She just cowered in his presence. And she was very timid. Watch the VIDEO to see how their story unfolds ...

Going BIG means that our fosters and volunteers always show up in a big way and are incredibly hands-on, passionate, and dedicated, whether they are volunteering remotely, at our kennel, or at our adoption events.
Ruff House Rescue is the largest 501 (c)(3) non-profit rescue on the South Shore of Long Island. Our mission is to seek out under-served shelters and communities where we can make the biggest lifesaving impact. Our goal is to create a world where the kind and rewarding experience of adoption is the standard. We do this through tireless passion, commitment, and advocacy.
We are a foster-based network of animal lovers who seek to save as many lives as possible, as fast as we can. As a largely volunteer-based organization, we depend on the generosity of our Ruff House family to do this life changing work.
