The Green Team is a drop-in gardening group that supports maintenance of San Francisco Botanical Garden. Volunteers work with SF Recreation & Parks gardeners, helping weed, mulch, plant, and otherwise maintain our rare and unique collections.
The Green Team volunteers on Tuesday & Thursday from 10-1pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 9-12pm.
We are seeking a coordinator to assist gardeners with organizing and supervising the Green Team during their shift. Responsibilities include: distributing tools and snacks, and returning tools at end of the shift; welcoming new members; assisting the supervising gardener in ensuring that volunteers are following best practices; ensuring that safety rules are followed; reporting to volunteer manager on issues involving volunteers or gardener; cleaning and organizing tools; tracking attendance; gardening!
The Green Team coordinator should be someone who can commit to working with the GT weekly, for a minimum of 6 months. This position provides a valuable opportunity for both gardening and supervising experience, and is ideal for horticulture students.
