Volunteer German Conversation Hour Facilitator Job Description

Time Commitment: occasionally 1 hour/week, twice a month (the Hour meets every 2nd st and 4th Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m.) - this is somewhat flexible depending on your availability.

Looking for an opportunity to connect with the international community of Charlotte and promote culture via language?

International House is looking for a conversation hour facilitator in German. This is a volunteer position where a fluent German speaker leads a conversation in the target language for all participants regardless of their language level, to practice/learn, while promotes a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The conversation hour facilitator would need to commit to leading a twice-a-month conversation hour. Training material is provided. All meetings take place at International House’ Conversation Room.

Requirements to be facilitator:

  • Full conversational fluency in German
  • A welcoming and friendly attitude
  • Ability to commit
  • Prompt attendance recording
  • Availability on 2 nd and 4 th Wednesday each month from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Immigrant Advocacy Program

International House provides legal representation and other resources to guide over 600 low-income internationals through the complexities of U.S. immigration law.

Citizen Diplomacy Programs

International House plays an important role in America's citizen diplomacy efforts by partnering with the U.S. Department of State and United States Agency for International Development to implement two U.S.Government sponsored programs: the International Visitor Leadership Program and Community Connections Program.
