HI Boston Travel Scholarship Committee Members will provide oversight for and manage the HI USA travel scholarship program in their local community. Committee members will be collectively tasked with developing their local program with the support of HI USA staff and resources.
Starting in October, we will begin recruitment for our domestic travel scholarship called Explore America. This scholarship includes awarding a $500 travel stipend and 4-10 overnight at our HI USA hostels. The Explore America scholarship is geared towards providing those with limited travel experience and limited funding an opportunity to experience travel.
We are looking for committee members who can help promote the scholarship in the community and reach those with limited travel experience and financial need. Committee members are also responsible for grading applications and awarding recipients.
The benefits of volunteering with HI USA include:
- Meet new people from all over the world, including travelers, staff, and fellow volunteers
- Work to increase understanding and tolerance by helping people break down cultural barriers
- Help travelers to the community have a great travel experience
- Build skills in public speaking, foreign languages, intercultural communication and more!
- Participate in appreciation events for local volunteers
- Receive personal and professional development opportunities
- Earn HI USA membership and dorm overnights at HI USA hostels
