Oakland County Parks and Recreation (OCPR) Natural Resources Unit is looking for highly motivated students currently interested in the conservation and stewardship of natural resources and land management, and in need of hands-on, field work volunteer hours.

Volunteer students will work directly with OCPR field staff on current habitat management and restoration projects within the park system’s natural areas. Students will gain day to day work experience in habitat restoration, invasive species removal, plant and animal identification, prescribed fire, and general field work. Students will have the opportunity to do volunteer work in a variety of Oakland County Parks’ natural areas and learn practical skills and develop knowledge about field ecology and land management.

Student volunteers may work in adverse field conditions including extreme heat and cold, presence of insects, rattlesnakes, and poisonous plants.
