Looking for an impactful and inspiring volunteer opportunity? Join YEI’s growing community of youth mentors! Youth Entrepreneur Institute (YEI) is a groundbreaking and exciting year round enrichment program that transforms middle and high school students into real, confident entrepreneurs. Throughout the program, students develop business ideas, write business plans, conduct market research, pitch their plans to a panel of mock investors (community members, and mentors) and actually launch and run their own companies.

This volunteer opportunity is extremely flexible.

Pitch Mentors:
Students in our programs participate in big pitch events, where they present in front of business professionals and local executives. The stakes are high and our students are nervous! Pitch mentors listen to students practice their pitches and provide advice on how to improve.

Your professional skills can help guide youth starting small businesses. Volunteer as a mentor and make a meaningful connection with a youth entrepreneur. Mentors serve as a coach and trusted guide on youth student business projects. We need business owners from all fields and backgrounds to help mold the leaders of tomorrow.

The only thing that is required of you is a 4 hr per month commitment to helping students with business planning, marketing or other area of expertise.

Put your business skills to good use and help a student on their business project today!

Details about your role:

  • Time commitment: 2 hours, 1 day a week (M-Th) for a minimum of 6 months
  • Where: Partner schools and community centers in Washington DC
  • Orientation and training provided
  • Placements accessible by public transportation and car

  • Amazing relationships with our students and chance to see them grow
  • Evenings full of laugher, smiles and high school sass
