Currently, the Backpack Brigade procures, packages, and delivers food to over 375 students at 9 Seattle public schools to ensure they have a reliable source of nutritious food over the weekend and on school breaks. Many displaced students rely solely on the free breakfasts and lunches they receive at school, so weekends and breaks leave them without a reliable source of food.

We are looking for individuals/groups to host food drives for the Backpack Brigade for kid friendly items. This food would go directly into the packages we deliver on Fridays thus helping hungry homeless students to put something in their belly over the weekend.

The most important thing to emphasize is that we need items that have "pop tops", easy to open and microwave. We can't send anything in the weekend packs that needs a pot or stove....

Seattle currently has more than 2,400 homeless students. Join us in reaching our vision of providing food and basic needs to every student in need throughout the year, including summer and school breaks.
