Two boys making a difference
Shoe collection at the Mini

Us: Changing Footprints is a Central Indiana based non-profit which collects, sorts, and donates shoes to local agencies such as Wheeler Mission, Dress For Success, Coburn Safe Place, Catholic Charities, and others, to help them help others. Every year, more than 10,000 pairs of shoes are collected by individuals, organizations, and stores and taken to our sorting room at 9302 N. Meridian. Individuals and groups sort the shoes during 1 1/2 - 2 hour sessions during both weekdays and weekends.

You: An organizer. Past president of this, past founder of that. Involved. If you are in an organization or a group, it's 110%. "Have we ever thought about doing such-and-so?" "Why don't we ....". And if it needs to be done, you DO it. You gather some friends, collect some other volunteers, and go for it. Because you love to organize, start, lead, solve, accomplish.

The need for footwear - both local and international - is endless and the supply of previously-worn shoes is infinite. We have the space, the funding, the opportunities, the shoes and the recipients. What we need...is more leaders and organizers and instigators and self-starters... to pick a project and GO FOR IT.

We are looking for leaders. Organizers. The Colts, Pacers, Fuel, Indians and Indy Eleven have never done a shoe collection for us. Perhaps we can get shoes from local high school sports teams? We need to re-write some brochures. The collection cart falls over - can it be improved? How could we squeeze more room out of our sorting room? Could you get a church youth group to do a shoe sorting?

Come sort shoes and pick our brains. Want to change the world, two feet at a time? Just need the opportunity? We are looking people who love responsibility and the authorization to come up with a great idea and MAKE IT REALITY. Doers, call us! Dreamers and Idea people need not apply :) Bob Broughton 317-727-4186

About Changing Footprints

Location:

10291 N. Meridian, Locations in Rushville, Indianapolis, Greenfield, INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46290, US

Mission Statement

Changing Footprints realizes the great need for shoes around the world as protection from diseases and a gateway to education. Because of that need we collect new and gently used shoes for distribution to homeless, disaster-stricken, or underprivileged people locally, nationally, and internationally regardless of race, religion, gender, or ethnicity.

Description

Changing Footprints collects used shoes from a variety of sources: collection bins at shoe stores and churches, shoe drives by schools, churches, civic and governmental agencies, and donations of customer returns by shoe companies. We sort, classify by type, and quality check, and then provide the right type of shoes at no charge to agencies, individuals, and organizations who put them on the feet of those in need. We are a 100% volunteer organization with no paid staff and provide 15,000 pair of shoes per year to those in need, locally, in the US, and to international destinations. This diverts shoes otherwise destined for landfills to a important cause, educates our youth that they can make a personal difference, helps those in need, as well as those that volunteer their time, effort, and ideas. We are a flat organization that supports any volunteer with an idea they would like to try - in the words of our youth, "it's all good".
