The Sexual Assault and Crime Victims Assistance Program with St. Peters Health Partners utilizes volunteers who are specially trained to provide supportive services to victims/survivors of crime via a 24-hour crisis hotline and in person at St. Peter's Health Partners facilities. These services include:

  • Providing information and referrals
  • Offering phone counseling and/or crisis intervention
  • Responding to St. Peter's Health Partners hospitals to offer in-person services to victims/survivors of crime

Volunteer Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Complete a 30+ hour volunteer training
  • Sign up for a minimum of 3 hotline shifts monthly
  • Commit to a minimum of 6 months
  • Attend monthly in-service meetings
  • Complete 10+ hours of continuing education annually (provided by agency staff)

Mission Statement

St. Peter's Crime Victim Services is committed to reducing the trauma of sexual assault, crime, and violence, as well as providing community education for its prevention. We are dedicated to creating a supportive, caring environment for victims/survivors and their families to enhance the healing process.

Description

Our services are free and confidential, and are available 24 hours a day/7 days a week. These services are provided to females and males, both children and adults, without regard to race, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or physical ability.

We offer Short Term Counseling, Support Groups, Therapy, Medical Accompaniment and Advocacy, Legal Accompaniment and Advocacy, Forensic Nurse Examiner Program, Senior Crime Victim Program, Information and Referrals, Crime Victims Compensation, and Community and Professional Education. Additionally, we run a 24-hour crisis hotline covered by our trained volunteers and staff.

  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • Must complete all required trainings during certification training class (apx 35 hours). Once completed, volunteers sign up for three, twelve-hour shifts per month.
