Chrysalis is a nonprofit organization in Los Angeles dedicated to creating a pathway to self-sufficiency for homeless and low-income individuals by providing the resources and support needed to find and retain employment. Since 1984, Chrysalis has assisted over 51,000 individuals, providing them with a hand-up, rather than a hand-out at three centers located where pockets of poverty are most pervasive: Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and the San Fernando Valley.
Chrysalis volunteers facilitate job preparation classes and help individuals facing significant barriers to employment build resumes and practice their interview skills. Not only do volunteers play an integral role in empowering clients to build crucial job search skills, they instill the self-esteem needed to succeed in the interview and beyond.
