Facilitator Needed for Senior Writers' Group

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Argentium Care (formerly SASI)

  • 5 people are interested

Volunteers are needed to facilitate SASI's "Best Day of My Life...So Far" writing group for seniors. This group meets weekly on Thursday mornings in Evanston. The facilitator ensures that meetings run and end on time, that all participants are engaged at their comfort level and that each participant's writings are collected every week, to be transcribed and posted on our blog. Participants write on topics of their own choosing; this is not an instructional writing group. No writing or editing experience is needed. Volunteers should be good listeners with a genuine interest in hearing other people's stories and thoughts. It is desirable to have a smart phone with a scanning application - or be willing to install one. Volunteers will need to fill out an application and agree to a criminal background check.

Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Deborah at djones-miller@SASIathome.org, or call 847/864.7274

This writing Group is part of the national Best Day of My Life program, for more information, go to their website: http://bestdayofmylifesofar.org/

Mission Statement

Argentium Care (formerly SASI) mission is to support the efforts of older adults to remain in their homes: we make living easier. Argenitum Care supports adults in our communities with two core programs: Argentium Home Care and Argentium Senior Connections.

Description

There comes a time in everyone’s life when we need the help of others. At Argentium Care we understand how overwhelming decisions regarding your well-being, or that of a loved one, can be.

Over 40 years ago we saw a need, and so began our journey, to support the adults in our communities. We founded a non-profit to focus on delivering the highest level of service and support. Over the years, we have become recognized as a trusted organization, with a reputation for adapting to the changing needs of adults without sacrificing quality.

Today, our dedicated volunteers form close one-on-one relationships, engaging older adults. Our highly trained caregivers assist with everything from simple daily tasks to more structured and dedicated in-home care plans. You see, we feel we’re doing more than just providing for the needs of our clients - we’re helping them to continue to live the life they’ve created. And as we serve a growing community, our commitment to provide the highest level of care remains as strong as ever.

Argentium Care supports adults in our communities with two core programs: Argentium Home Care SM and Argentium Senior Connections SM.
