One of the original events produced by the 500 Festival, the IPL 500 Festival Parade, has grown to be one of the signature events held in the United States each year. The Parade is the only 500 Festival event that has taken place every year since the organization’s founding in 1957. The 2019 IPL 500 Festival Parade will be held on May 25, the eve of the Indianapolis 500. 300,000 spectators are expected to line the streets of Indianapolis, joined by another one million watching from their televisions around the country, to view one of the nation’s premier parades, alongside the Pasadena Tournament of Roses, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Opportunity: Are you a person who has all the answers? Be a parade ambassador! Assist our thousands of spectators by answering their questions or providing them with directional assistance. Don't worry; we will give you the necessary tools to be able to answer the questions.

Balloon Handler

Date: May 25, 2019

Time: 8:00 am - 2:00 pm

Opportunity: If being part of a parade is a lifelong dream we have the perfect opportunity for you! Walk a parade balloon down the 2 mile parade route as thousands of spectators cheer you on.

Band Escort:

Date: May 25, 2019

Time: 8:30 am - 2:30 pm

Opportunity: You will be helping escort over 2,000 marching band members through the parade route to make sure they are kept on time and everything is going smoothly.

Flag Carriers

Date: May 25, 2019

Time: 10:00 am - 1:30 pm

Opportunity: Do you want to take yourself back to those flag carrying days in marching band? Then sign up for this opportunity to march down the entire parade route carrying a flag for everyone to see. MUST be able to walk the 2 mile parade route. Then, head home, settle in, and watch yourself on the TV broadcast that evening!

Logistics Crew

Date: May 25, 2019

Time: 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

Opportunity: Help set the stage for this annual, time-honored tradition by setting up the VIP area, and preparing the two-mile route with much needed supplies. The Logistics crew helps make the Parade route ready for the hundreds of thousands of street-side spectators and the millions of viewers at home. *Note: this is a physical job that includes manual labor*

Route Marshal

Date: May 25, 2019

Time: 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

Opportunity: Route Marshals maintain the timing and the spacing of the parade units as they march along the parade route. They communicate with section leaders throughout the route and parade participants to achieve the perfect look and create an amazing experience for our thousands of spectators! *Note: this position calls for people who like working with or directing others in a polite manner, while communicating clearly and concisely. The position also requires walking, and standing for long stretches of time.*

Parade Usher:

Opportunity: Is Hospitality your middle name? You’d be a great Usher at the IPL 500 Festival Parade. Ushers greet spectators and help them find their seats.

Parade Floater:

Date: May 25, 2019

Time: 8:00 am - 2:00 pm

Opportunity: If you just want to be a part of the 3 rd largest parade in the USA in any capacity a floater is for you. You might be a balloon carrier, flag carrier, an ask-me person or any placed anywhere else we need a volunteer to be. Being a floater allows you to have the opportunity to participate in the Parade in a variety of ways.
