Time: 8:15 am - 2:30 pm

What to expect: We have designed an Indiana Academic Standards based curriculum for fourth graders around the state. It’s a free program to all students in the state of Indiana. Students learn about the history of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the history of the 500 Festival through thought-provoking, interesting and fun lessons and projects. After studying in the classroom, schools can visit the Speedway in April for a unique educational study trip. Education Program volunteers will be asked to complete a background check one week prior to your scheduled volunteer opportunity.
- Duties- Take the children through an experience they will never forget! We need your help guiding a school to the different learning stations throughout the day. We will provide the schedule. All you have to do is lead the way!
Volunteer group size: Perfect for individuals or for groups size 10 to 30.

Mission Statement
The mission of the 500 Festival is to advocate and celebrate the spirit, heritage and legacy of the Indianapolis 500. Through social, cultural and educational events and programs, the 500 Festival enhances the quality of life for all citizens of our communities.
Description
No other singular sporting event in the world has a legacy like the Indianapolis 500. No other event has shaped and defined a city and state and their people like the Indianapolis 500.
The 500 Festival, a not-for-profit volunteer organization, was created in 1957 to organize civic events celebrating the greatest race in the world. Over the past 49 years, the 500 Festival has grown to become one of the largest festivals in the nation.
Last year, nearly 500,000 Hoosiers and visitors participated in festival activities throughout the month of May. Whether they were athletes running the Mini, fourth grade students participating in the Education Program, families enjoying the state's largest festival for kids, or spectators being dazzled by one of the nation's premier parades, they were there, celebrating the legacy.
